THE ITALIAN INTENSIVE VII
COMING SOON
With Katherine Brimberry and Suzi Davidoff
October 12 - October 25, 2026
Save the dates for the seventh Italian Intensive led by, Katherine Brimberry and Suzi Davidoff - October 12 - 25! This session focuses on observation, drawing and translation. It will include exploration into monoprinting drypoint engraving. Drypoint is a an etching technique that uses no acid or chemicals. Lines are directly incised into copper or plastic matrices which can be inked and printed on printmaking papers using an etching press.. The beauty of this process is that the matrix known as a “plate,” can be printed multiple times with different applications of ink making unique impressions that cannot be replicated in print again. This type of unique print is known as a monoprint.
The residency/workshop format of the class will allow students to work at their own level in developing images and process. Students with little or no experience will feel comfortable in this course and more experienced students will continue to build on their skills and knowledge. The residency includes daily excursions to nearby Umbrian towns and historic sites. such as Assisi, Ovieto, and Spoleto.
With their combined expertise in printmaking and drawing and their years of experience in printmaking collaborations and team-teaching Katherine and Suzi will provide each student with individual attention, creative inspiration and challenges.
Please join us for a safe, small residency/workshop experience at La Romita for the fall of 2026. Costs for this residency does not include the flight into Italy. Tuition covers transportation from Rome, room and board at La Romita and frequent excursions to Umbrian hill towns.
