Our Mission
Flatbed provides educational programs, community access, independent and collaborative residencies, and publishing opportunities for emerging or established artists. Flatbed seeks to engage the community through its exhibitions in hopes to increase the appreciation and understanding of the fine art print.
In Sandra C. Fernandez’s new series of work, she explores migration as an emotional and transformative experience. Using monotype, lithography, and stitching, she constructed collaged dress-forms from fragmented images and text. Produced as unique impressions, these sewn “garments” hold memory, labor, and resilience, embodying a state of becoming shaped by loss, endurance, and hope, while honoring the labor and strength required to persist. The series of seventeen dresses was co-published by Fernandez and Flatbed, and the work is available through Flatbed’s gallery.
