Part-time Gallery Associate/ Social Media Coordinator

Location: Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking
Reports to: Katherine Brimberry, Director
Status: Part-Time

Schedule & Compensation

  • Fridays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Saturdays: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • Occasional Saturday evenings required for exhibition openings and special events

  • Hourly pay: [Starting at $18 per hour, depending on experience]

  • Plus a 10% commission on gallery sales

Position Overview

The Gallery Associate is the primary point of contact for visitors and collectors, providing a welcoming, informed presence in the gallery. This role supports exhibitions, sales, artist relations, and daily gallery operations while maintaining a professional and engaging environment for the public.

Assist with managing the Flatbed social media presence in accordance with our production and showing of new works. Create social media posts promoting our growing community shop and class schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Visitor & Collector Engagement

  • Greet visitors, collectors, and artists in a warm and professional manner

  • Provide information about current exhibitions, artists, and available works

  • Build relationships with collectors and encourage ongoing engagement with the gallery

Sales & Client Services

  • Assist with artwork inquiries, pricing, and sales transactions

  • Process sales and maintain accurate records

  • Follow up with collectors after visits, openings, and purchases

  • Promote gallery exhibitions, events, and print publications

  • Assist with Community Shop events and classes

Exhibition & Event Support

  • Assist with installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.

  • Help prepare for openings and special events

  • Ensure gallery spaces remain clean, organized, and presentation-ready

Administrative Support

  • Respond to basic email inquiries

  • Maintain inventory and artwork information as needed

  • Assist with shipping coordination, packaging, and other gallery tasks

  • Corresponding with teachers, students, and staff 

Qualifications

  • Interest in contemporary art and printmaking

  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable engaging with the public and discussing artwork

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with email and spreadsheets

  • Previous gallery, retail, or arts-related experience preferred

  • Interest in learning about artists, printmaking techniques, and contemporary art practices

  • Art history studies and printmaking experience
