FLAT FILE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18: ALFONSO HUERTA
At Flatbed Press, we house over 100 drawers—our “flat files”—filled with original prints by a wide range of artists. These prints represent an incredible variety of styles, techniques, and voices in contemporary printmaking.
Flat File Saturdays are special days when we highlight one artist from our collection. We open their drawer, carefully pull out their prints, and display them for visitors to explore. It’s a chance to see work up close, learn more about the artist’s process, and engage in meaningful conversations about printmaking.
This Saturday, October 18 we’re featuring the prints of Alfonso Huerta . All prints are available for purchase! We're open on Saturday from 12 noon until 5 pm.
Alfonso Huerta is a Mexican-born printmaker based in Austin, Texas, known for bold, layered works that blend myth, memory, and vibrant color. Working primarily in linocut and copperplate, Huerta hand-colors each print, creating richly textured, dreamlike scenes rooted in Mesoamerican symbolism. A longtime collaborator with Flatbed Press, Huerta’s work bridges traditional craft and contemporary storytelling. His prints have been featured in exhibitions across Texas and Mexico, and in 2024 he was named Artist in Residence at the Sheraton Austin Georgetow
