FLAT FILE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11: ANN CONNER

At Flatbed Press, we house over 100 drawers—our “flat files”—filled with original prints by a wide range of artists. These prints represent an incredible variety of styles, techniques, and voices in contemporary printmaking.

Flat File Saturdays are special days when we highlight one artist from our collection. We open their drawer, carefully pull out their prints, and display them for visitors to explore. It’s a chance to see work up close, learn more about the artist’s process, and engage in meaningful conversations about printmaking.

This Saturday, October 11 we’re featuring the prints of Ann Connor (Flat file drawers 56,57,71,72,73). All prints are available for purchase!  We're open on Saturday from 12 noon until 5 pm.

Using non-endangered native wood and brilliant color palettes, Ann Connor creates colorful, conceptualist woodcuts that employ the intrinsic grain of the wood. These vibrant woodcuts employ the isolation of hard-edged abstraction to create a space defined exclusively by shape and color. Her prints are reminiscent of the spirograph drawings that so many of us made as children, delighted by the sophisticated patterns and symmetry that we were able to achieve..
